Frida was found on Hollywood Blvd. at the age of two weeks, abandoned. Thanks to Noah's Bark Animal Rescue in Manhattan Beach, she is zzzzzzzzzzzzzz...........peacefully on her blanket and is now 2 years old. Special thanks to Gerrie Mooney, her foster mom.
Labrador Retriever sleeping comfortably on a sunny day in Los Angeles. "Little Elf" was rescued from the streets. She was a very shy, sweet, loving dog and in very little time and a lot of love, she became a confident, playful, dog who quickly stole everyone's hearts.

"Scale back your long hopes to a short period.
While we speak, time is envious and is running away from us. Seize the
day, trusting little in the future."
Carpe diem, or seize the day, is a Latin phrase which originated in the “Odes,” a long series of poems written by the Roman poet Horace in 65 B.C.E..
I usually post the full story of Lowess, a Pit Bull rescued by Change of Heart Pit Bull Rescue.
After I posted this painting yesterday I thought about why I chose to
paint her. Lowess lived a life behind bars in a kill shelter. She was
bereft of the physical, and more importantly, spiritual comforts we
sometimes take for granted. After her release, COHPR was told by the
vet, she didn't have long to live. The rescue made sure her remaining days were truly blissful and fully lived.
I had
Lowess in several art shows. People are drawn to her joy and often ask
about the dog in the painting. Last night I thought about her life a
lot.
Living life, for me, is not always about feeling
"comfortable." It's not easy knowing about all the suffering in the
world, especially knowing that many beings that suffer are helpless to
act. Life is full of many shades of blue and gray. I hope when you look
at Lowess, you can see life through her eyes, and follow in her paw
prints. "Carpe diem."
I dedicate this to all the
incredibly brave people who sacrifice so much to save lives. You do so
often at your own peril. Your efforts do not go
unnoticed.
These two Chihuahuas are both rescues. Amelia loves Genevieve and is always trying to snuggle and play with her. Genevieve won't give her the time of day and can be a bit cranky, but Amelia has figured out that she is all talk and no action. Amelia always ends up with the upper hand as Genevieve weighs a mere 5 lbs. Then of course, it's time for both to take a long nap. Apparently, playing is very hard work. Taking liberty with colours and composition is something I love to do.
About Flea: Written by Gerrie Mooney, Flea's pet parent
Flea is an amazing little dog, and weighs a mere 6 pounds. He is the happiest, friendliest dog you will ever meet. Flea was born with multiple birth defects. He was going to be euthanized as he was considered to not be adoptable. A kind person called Noah's Bark rescue to save his life. He has adapted to his handicaps amazingly well.

The kisser, Genevieve, was found pregnant at the age of eight or so. This tiny, sweet, girl was living on the streets and is now a permanent resident on my lap. The kissee, Frida, was found at two weeks of age on the streets in Hollywood, California. Both are in a home where they are adored and treasured.
